i look kinda crappy today. i didn't sleep well. it was raining and super windy all night. i thought we were going to die. i got sorta half ready for work and decided i just wanted to knit. i really should eat some breakfast.

You're the first person I've seen who holds their yarn the same way I do. No winding around multiple fingers or elaborate tensioning twists, etc. ... just once over the index finger and that's it. Except of course I use the other hand, because ... well, I dunno why. I just do.
I had one of those days a few weeks back....all it took was a sniffle and I blew the entire day on the couch with my needles, although, at least you showered!
