and then frogged it...

Lessons Learned:
1. ALWAYS do a gauge swatch.
2. Just because you're really thin, doesn't mean you should just go for the smaller size.
3. Everyone in BloGLanD is telling the truth, Jaywalkers are really that tight.
I've been sort of busy, and it seems like not as many folks are reading my blog. Maybe if I write really trashy stuff about celebrities, or post pictures of political figures in scandalous positions more people will stop by??? Suggestions? anyone?

Poor frogged sock on a plate. Sad.
ReplyDeleteCast my vote for just keep doing what you're doing. =) Haven't attempted the Jaywalkers yet...I'll heed your advice and swatch (for a change) when I get there.
ReplyDeleteDon't change your blog, dear heart! I love reading about your knitting adventures, and your adventures in general. You're awesome at doing what you do! If anything, I want more! More! MORE! But I am a little greedy...
ReplyDeleteI read! I read!
ReplyDeleteOr you could just post more often. :-)
ReplyDeletePoor sockie. It was pretty while it lived.
If you blog it, they will come!
ReplyDeletegrrr, I had the exact same issues when I attempted Jaywalkers. I didn't consult BloGLanD first, and I knit and frogged three times before I gave up on getting my huge feet into the beautiful socks. perhaps I'll try again now that I'm older and wiser..
ReplyDeletedamn man, that's why I don't mess with that tiny sock yarn. It' lik ripping out a sweater's worth of stitches!!!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't change - jsut check in more often!
Oh my gosh! I swear I had the same exact Jaywalker frogging post in March 2007! Gosh darn things. I think it's something in the pattern that makes them not stretch or something. And don't change your blog, it rocks just as it is.
ReplyDeleteI read too! Sorry about the jaywalker mess... it has bitten us all.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I've got a mohair sock toe to rip out. No bueno, yo. About the blog, just imagine a sea of a million lurkers. Who actually comments these days?
ReplyDeleteOn my second pair of Jaywalkers, I knit the leg using a US2 needle, and the foot using US1. They are the best fitting socks I own! Nice and snug in the foot, but I can slide my heel through the leg easily.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog exactly how it is! I've been noticing a drop in my comments, too (um, not that I was exactly inundated with them before), so I blame the weather. I know I've fallen behind in my blog reading, and other people probably have, too.
maybe there should be a disclaimer. the same thing happened to me. everyone was knitting them so I thought, why not give it a try. I ripped them out and then never started the pattern again.
ReplyDelete(the toe up pattern is really tempting....)
I read your blog! I have been MIA as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Jaywalkers are tight but I thought it was because my calves are just fat. I gave mine away.
Sorry about the sock. I love your blog and check it almost everyday to see if you have a new post. I was hoping for and update on your garden. I am sure you will get the socks right.
ReplyDeleteStill reading, and as for the jaywalkers, it's why I stick to simple easy boring patterns!
ReplyDeletei like it when you talk about yourself and your knitting. you think you are awesome and you make us think it too.

No! Don't sell out for the traffic--trust me! I enjoy reading your blog the way it is, and I know I've accepted that I have the same five people commenting on my blog as well. It's nice having a tight circle of friends! And, I may be the last person on earth that has not knit Jaywalkers...
ReplyDeletePshshshshs, you're fishing for compliments... Or is it a hidden survey to figure out the figures?
ReplyDeleteKidding, I read and love to read and will keep reading! All the way in the Netherlands!

that's cool! like a superfastmother
I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteTo me you will always be the person who introduced me to Nina Simone. I surfed in from Craftster and found the live footage of her performing and played it over and over again. It's so wonderful.
So I just think, keep on being yourself.
