daffodilly y'all.

We've discussed my black thumb ad infinitum, but we've never discussed my one gardening success; these daffodils. I always get excited when I see their lazy heads start poking out of the ground in front of our house. When the first sleepy blossom opens up, I all but lose my mind for a few days.

It may be that yellow is one of my favorite colors or even the refreshing aura of the spring to come, but these little guys just make me so happy. So happy, in fact, that i could do a funny little dance in the flower bed.

Unfortunately, this also means that it's time to clean up the garden and began the trail of death that will lead us into early summer. The only flowers I've had any luck with (besides these beauties) are Alyssum and Portulacas. I may just fill the flower beds with them this year, actually. Last year, I had the wonderful idea of planting an all-white "moon garden". I thought it would be really magical. TOTAL TRAIN WRECK. Almost everything died within 3 weeks. Ugh.

Tell me about your gardening success stories! What zone do you live in?

Your dance reminds me of a gnome! A garden gnome of course.

So, what about other perennials like azaleas or rhododendrons? Herbs? Maybe there is a Guide to Gardening for the Horticulture Challenged?

My favorites are gladiolus - love them. I planted some last year, and hoping they come back up this year like they are suppose to.

Daffs are my favorites - they always bloom around my birthday. Gladies are great flowers to plant and you absolutely can't go wrong with lilies. Plant 'em in the early spring and they bloom all summer - and you never have to give them a second thought ever again! Mine have been going (on their own) for ten years now!

dancing and daffodils!!
Two of my favourite things!!
I am obsessed with wanting a massive herb garden, and also a wall of lavender and rosemary, that is huge, and that you can smell from the house. I am working on it. By that I mean I have planted lots and lots of rosemary, some has lived, some have died

Oh, I love portulacas! My Grandma had them in her garden.

I had a horrible experience with (expensive)Gerber Daisies and a wily chipmunk!

I am famous for killing plants...gardening is just not my thing. It's a shame too, because I love gardens so much.

At least you've grown flowers. I can never tend to a plant past the "teeny life sticking from the soil" stage. They die soon after. Ha!

I love the gif! And portulaca are damn near indestructible! Don't you love the smell of alyssum? A moon garden sounds dreamy. Let me know if you have any gardening questions! I'd love to help out. :)
