thrifting: tammy's bunnies.

DSC_1060

I found these in the very first thrift store we went in last week. They were sitting on a table right next to the door, and they caught my eye right away.

I almost didn't buy the yellow one, but once I flipped them over and saw that they were both painted by the same person in two consecutive years, I couldn't bear to separate them.

The idea of a girl named Tammy painting these bunnies over 30 years ago was just too charming! Maybe it was some sort of family tradition to paint ceramics for Easter? The sentimentality of these pieces could bring me to tears, really.

For $1.07, I got to leave one of the coolest thrift shops with a piece of someone's family history. I can't wait to put these ll' babes in a little vignette somewhere to keep Tammy's memories alive!

Such a good find!

Does YOUR family have any Easter traditions?

Oh my gosh, the one with the shawl is SO flippin' cute! If I wear a bunny, I'd definitely wear a shawl. ;)

We go to the zoo on Easter, then to my aunt's. She always makes this ginormous german chocolate bunny-shaped cake. It's awesome!

I love, love, love these! I hope that Tammy is doing well somewhere. No Easter tradition with my family but I wish so.

growing up, my family's Easter tradition was to always go and stay at a mountain not too far from where we live. 5 years ago I got married at the same mountain, now we go there every year on our anniversary, so I celebrate getting married at easter
I love your thrifted bunnies, and I love buying objects where you wonder about what the backstory might be

So nice to know that the sister rabbits are rescued and nurtured from now on. Well done on a very precious little find. :)

On Easter, Effie drags us heathens to church. Later: there is ham.

Nope, no Easter traditions anymore.

We used to go to my grandmothers & she'd cook for like 25 or 30 of us & give everybody $10 & gigantic bags of candy, but now she's in a home. It was dinner at 4PM on the dot!

:(

I was once given a really fancy egg by a great aunt. It broke in my desk drawer & I never told anyone. My mom was so angry when she found it.

I had a friend whose mom painted ceramics like that - their house was covered with them!
