It's that time of year again. The time when I decide that all of my shoes are filthy and stinky from all of the winter muck, and I break down and begrudgingly buy a new pair.
I love to shop, but I HATE buying shoes.
In stores, there's a weird pressure from commission based sales associates who need to feed themselves and keep their lights on. I feel bad to try things on and not buy anything. I don't like letting people down.
I used to work in a really hip shoe store, and I would work so hard to find things for people, only to see them walking out while I was carrying 7 boxes over to the the shiny metal seating area. It was shocking and upsetting. I can't put someone through that, knowing how let down I would feel after a missed transaction.
So, this year I'm buying my spring shoes online. There's no one to worry about this way. If I don't like them or if they don't fit just right, I'll just mail them back and be done with it.
I've narrowed it down to 3 choices, and now I'm stuck:
generic surplus X obey.
vans X j.crew
Which ones do you like? I'm awful at making decisions!
